Experience an exciting winter day fishing with a professional fisherman at his genuine fishing spots in Kuusamo.

There are over 400 km of maintained cross-country ski tracks in Kuusamo. There are many Lappish huts situated along the tracks.

We will be received by the host and hostess of Ollila, and then we will head out to check the nets under the lake ice. The local lakes are rich with many species of fish. While we are working, the guide tells stories about the history of Sossonniemi fishing village, and about the importance of fishing industry in our daily lives. Over the years, the development of fishing equipment alone has been phenomenal!

We arrive at Ollila by bus at about 10.30 and will be met by our host and hostess. After this the participants will be transferred by snowmobile sled (in groups of 8) to the lake ice, where a group of professional fishermen are waiting.

In addition to the excellent snowmobile route network of Kuusamo you have our own safe and less crowded routes at your disposal.

Our partner Husky Fun Kuusamo has 1-2 day husky safaris.

The highest point of Kuusamo lake district, the Muovaara Hill, offers you a great challenge and a fantastic scenery for snowshoeing.

The Muojärvi waterway offers many possibilities for boaters and canoeists.

BÄREN UND ADLER IN FINNLAND....

Hop on board a real fishing boat and become a seine fisherman for a while. Feel the breeze of wind and enjoy the lake views before arriving at the fishing site.

For hunters we offer wildfowl and hare hunting. The quota varies annually according to the quantity of game in the area. Moose hunting with a group is also available.

You are welcome to visit the restored shingle mill at Ollila, where shingles are still made using old methods. We will step into the forest with a frame saw in hand, select the right kind of tree, and cut it down. Then we will bark it and cut it into blocks, and take them to the mill to be made into shingles.

Kuusamon Uistin manufactures the most famous fishing lures in Finland. Now you have the opportunity test the latest designs at their home waters.

There are many really good bird-watching sites near Ollila Holiday Cottages. With a stroke of luck you will see rare birds such as red-flanked bluetail, whose song has been heard right in the middle of our resort. In spring the pine forests are filled with the sounds of black grouse and capercaillie trying to win themselves a bride. You might even watch their display from your cottage window!

The soft heathland, the humming pine forest, and the serene lakeside view make a perfect setting for many summer parties such as weddings, dances, accordion evenings, and other events. Our Lappish hut, roomy dance hall and covered shelter provide enough room also for larger functions.

Professional net-fishermen are guiding you today, we will set out with an exotic raft, which main feature is not speed, but comfort.

We will take you by car to a wilderness lake, well hidden in the forest where you are very likely to be the only fishermen. Our target is to catch the giant pike, to feel the real battle of the mighty fish!

We will meet at Restaurant Juomuskota at Ollila, where we will start the trip by digging worms for bait from the compost heap.

There are many hiking routes in the area around the Ollila Holiday Cottages. The marked trails leading to the nearby Muovaara Hill and its surroundings are ideal for enjoyable day tours. The old Eastern trade routes, i.e. the horse paths to Kuusamo and to the Russian border, can still be taken.

Trolling is a leisurely fishing method, suitable for many. Experienced fishing guides are taking you out on the clear and pure lakes straight from Ollila Cottages with proper lure fishing boats.

In spin fishing you will feel the catch fighting against you all the way up from the water, this is the main attraction in this form of fishing.
