We will be received by the host and hostess of Ollila, and then we will head out to check the nets under the lake ice. The local lakes are rich with many species of fish. While we are working, the guide tells stories about the history of Sossonniemi fishing village, and about the importance of fishing industry in our daily lives. Over the years, the development of fishing equipment alone has been phenomenal!

Through a white, snow-covered forest, we will journey to a genuine reindeer roundup site on the north side of Muovaara hill. This is a place where the reindeer always return, in search of nourishment and shelter. Ever since the 17th century, the ancients Lapps have held their autumn roundups here.

Meet a genuine local Shaman who will protect his folk with his powerful spells! The performance is based on the history of our village, and it will give you an overview of the history of the Lapps. The Shaman performance can be ordered to entertain your group over dinner.

There are over 400 km of maintained cross-country ski tracks in Kuusamo. There are many Lappish huts situated along the tracks.

We arrive at Ollila by bus at about 10.30 and will be met by our host and hostess. After this the participants will be transferred by snowmobile sled (in groups of 8) to the lake ice, where a group of professional fishermen are waiting.

In addition to the excellent snowmobile route network of Kuusamo you have our own safe and less crowded routes at your disposal.
